Chocolate Orange Protein Bars
Breakfasts, Puddings, Snacks High Protein
April 7, 2016
Protein bars are a great way of getting your protein requirements in whilst on the go. However shop bought bars are often not as healthy as we are led to believe. They can also be very expensive! These home made protein bars are far more healthy and definitely cheaper! My favourite is chocolate orange flavour but you can use any flavour protein powder!
- Prep: 10 mins
- Cook: 30 mins
Directions
1Mix all dry ingredients together followed by the wet. Add the juice little by little as you don’t want the mixture too wet! Once you have a thick damp mixture chill for approx 10 mins in the freezer (this makes it easier to shape)
2Put a piece of oiled foil on a chopping board and using 2 knives (or your hands!) shape the mixture into bars. Chill the bars in the freezer while you melt your chocolate for the coating.
3To melt the chocolate, put a bowl over a pan of simmering water – once the bars are really firm from the freezer quickly dunk and turn them in the chocolate. I used two forks for this. Once you have repeated this with all the bars chill in the fridge for at least 30 mins. You can then wrap and store in the fridge until you want to eat them or take them with you.
